Office

Our office strives to produce excellence on a daily basis and to provide periodontal treatment in a very caring environment. We believe strongly that our patients should be completely informed and educated on all treatment options available to them.

Once a year we will request an updated medical history and a list of all doctors currently treating you. Patients with certain conditions (e.g. valvular heart condition, artificial joints, etc.) may be asked to pre-medicate with antibiotics prior to treatment. We do this with your safety in mind. Please inform us of any condition that might need pre-medication.

Qualifications

James R. McAraw, D.M.D., M.Sc.D.

Dr. Jim McAraw, who grew up in the Pittsburgh area, received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Jefferson College in 1966. Afterwards, he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh and continued his training in the United States Air Force for two more years. He went to Boston University where he completed his specialty training in periodontics.

Dr. Jim McAraw founded the practice in 1974 and hasn't looked back since. The practice was so busy in those early years that he asked his friend and co-resident, Dr. Lee Cantner, to join the practice in 1978. Together, with considerable hard work, they built a very successful practice that is based on caring, honesty, and ideal dentistry.
