Qualifications

After graduating from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in psychology, Dr. Michael J. Wei earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2000. Afterwards, he received his dual certificates in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at Columbia University School of Oral and Dental Surgery, and also completed a fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, both in 2001. In September 2002, Dr. Wei opened his private practice in Gramercy Park Manhattan, and in April 2007 Dr. Wei moved his practice to Midtown Manhattan. He has since continued his education with many annual postgraduate courses in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, including certification as an Invisalign dentist.

A vested member of the dental community, Dr. Wei holds membership in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and New York County Dental Society. Dr. Wei continues to take continuing education courses, always surpassing the state license requirements. Dr. Wei had the distinct honor of being voted one of America's Top Dentists in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 by the Consumer's Research Council of America.

Dr Michael Wei was highly recommended by a friend, and from my initial visit with him, I was very impressed. I'd always wanted to improve my less-than-perfect teeth, and after much discussion and consideration with Dr Wei, I decided on Invisalign. It is one of the best decisions I've ever made - I absolutely love my straight teeth! Dr Wei was highly professional, friendly and reassuring, and he worked tirelessly to perfect my smile. Some of my teeth were quite stubborn, in fact Invisalign said it was a particularly challenging case, but Dr Wei found a way to make it work. Finding the perfect dentist for Invisalign is pretty frustrating and difficult to do. I went on numerous consultations and the dentists were very quick, aloof and did not explain anything. I’ve been to quite a few dentists in New York City over the years, and Dr. Wei is the only one I will go to. Excellent service, top-notch tech, and he’s also a genuine person and warm human being. I should mention that I’ve been seeing Dr. Wei for over a decade. The previous dentists that treated me couldn’t hold a candle to Dr. Wei! Even after my jaw was mangled in a bike accident, Dr. Wei treated me with the latest technological advances (and I am certain that few if any dentists would go above and beyond like he does). Now my wife is a patient as well. Definitely recommended.

A colleague recommended Dr. Wei to me several years ago and since then, he has become our family dentist and we have recommended Dr. Wei to other family and friends. He is super nice and genuinely cares about the well-being of his patients. He has also been extremely responsive. In a dental emergency with a wisdom tooth, Dr. Wei made time from a packed schedule to squeeze in an appointment and I know he has done that for others as well. He also made a good recommendation to a dental surgeon. Dr. Wei is also very tech savvy and embraces the use of technology in his practice for his benefit and that of his patients. Lastly, his office is comfortable and his staff is very responsive and friendly. If you are super sensitive to pain, Dr. Wei also ensures that you are comfortable by employing topical anesthesia, using televisions as a distraction, and is just good at talking you through a procedure. I never have waited more than 5 minutes and the staff is extremely accommodating and professional both over the phone and in person. Compared to other dentists, Dr. Wei is not only great at what he does, but is also very nice and compassionate which helps relieve the usual anxiety that many people have when going to the dentist. Dr. Wei gave me a new smile!! I've avoided going to dentists for years and my teeth were in pretty bad shape. I had severe crowding and, as it turned out, a cross-bite too. I originally went in wanting porcelain veneers as the easiest and quickest way to fix my smile. However, even though the porcelain veneers were the more expensive route, Dr Wei said this wasn't the best option for me and instead suggested I try Invisalign. He took a long time to explain all the options and gave me an honest opinion of the best route of treatment. Well 10 months later the results are incredible and I'm so happy. I'm now comfortable smiling again; I also had a number of fillings and a cleaning. The staff is extremely friendly and Dr. Wei is an extremely personable, caring, and extremely competent dentist. I would (and have) recommended him to anyone.

One of the Country's Best Dentists! Dr. Wei is more than a dentist. He is an artist! He takes great care in giving his patients great service. I say that he is an artist because he is very meticulous in making sure that his patients leave with nothing less than a great smile. I think he views the patient's mouth like an artist's canvas and wants to create the perfect smile every time. When you also consider that he offers in house financing and new cutting edge cosmetic procedures not found in other dental offices, it's easy to see why he is considered one of the best dentists in the country! No one really enjoys going to the dentist but there's a reason that I've been going to Dr. Wei for almost 10 years. He's thorough, professional and of course has that all important chair-side manner that puts you at ease right away. His office used to be close to my work but when he moved it to a neighborhood not convenient to me, there was no question that I would follow him. As another reviewer has said, which I agree with, Dr. Wei really does genuinely care about his patients and you can feel that in the way he treats and talks to you. I am glad that I found Dr. Wei. Over the past year I tried to find a great dentist that can actually improve my smile. I must say I have had very bad experiences before Dr. Wei.
